A diagnosis of T1D can be some of the most stressful times – everything is unfamiliar and scary. Help others in need.

You can help ease this process and aid newly diagnosed individuals and family members as they adjust to managing their disease. You can become a mentor.  When an individual is diagnosed with T1D, they are given the opportunity to request a mentor from JDRF. As one of these mentors you will contact newly diagnosed families to answer questions, offer support, and help guide them through the sometimes difficult transition to living a full, active, and healthy life with diabetes.

Mentor training is offered year-round, so sign up to be a mentor today – contact Delia Whitfield, Outreach Manager, dwhitfield@jdrf.org, 202-371-0044.

If you would like to request a mentor, you can also contact Delia Whitfield, Outreach Manager, dwhitfield@jdrf.org, 202-371-0044. Please include the first name and age of the individual with T1D and any other information you feel is relevant.
