Curing Type 1 Diabetes.
Why do we do what we do?
The courage and perseverance of those facing the everyday challenges of T1D is an inspiration to us. In turn, we seek to inspire them… to give them hope, belief, and support through life-changing treatments and significant breakthroughs that get us closer to a cure.
Who Are We?
The leader of…
JDRF is at the center of the global T1D community— leading the effort to coordinate and galvanize the many key constituents— families, businesses, government, researchers, and other organizations— in the quest to cure T1D.
What are we doing?
Cure, Treat, Prevent
We never lose sight of our ultimate goal— to remove T1D from our lives forever. Every day, we are making advances toward the cure. Along the path to a cure, we are inspired by the many delivered achievements— creating better treatments that will transform how people live with T1D, and breakthroughs that will reduce the risk of developing T1D.
How are we doing it?
Innovation & Effective Operations
Building on a wealth of insights derived from JDRF-funded research, recent major breakthroughs and advancements have brought us to a place where we can deliver life-changing differences to those facing the everyday challenges of T1D. Innovations— such as the Artificial Pancreas Project, glucose-responsive insulin, and encapsulated islet cells— are moving out of the lab and to human testing, with the goal of creating healthier, easier, and safer lives for those with T1D.
JDRF has always been dedicated to maintaining the highest levels of efficiency to ensure that our time, resources, and dollars can achieve as great an impact as possible. Over the past four decades of progress, JDRF has funded more than $1.5 billion in T1D research— with more than 80 percent of our expenditures dedicated to funding T1D research and research-related education.
